A small-group circle to learn how the body holds what we survive, map it, and gently reframe it — with grounding, good company, and a healthy dose of "what in the actual hell."
We will go through the book as a group, and walk through various Somatic Discovery practices using my Somatic Companion workbook I developed for this group.
Some experiences don't stay in the past — they live in the body. The tight throat, the ice-cold hands, the chest that won't unclench, the nervous system still braced for something that ended long ago.
This fall, I'm opening a new circle: Trauma in My Bones — a six-session somatic reading circle and somatic discovery workshop series.
Together, a small group of us will read Stephanie Foo's memoir What My Bones Know and use it as a map — to learn how the body holds what we survive, gently map where it lives in our own bodies, and reframe those responses. With grounding, good company, and yes, a healthy dose of "what in the actual hell." Because trauma itself isn't funny — but we've all had a "what the hell was that?" moment, and laughing about the absurd together is one of the most regulating things a nervous system can do.
Every participant leaves with their own Somatic Companion — a keepsake workbook and body-map journal to keep walking with long after the six weeks end.
This is education and embodied exploration, not therapy. Just bring your curiosity about what your body knows.
We will meet 6 times for aprox. 2 hours at my studio at Savage Mill. Zoom make-up sessions will be made available.
